Researchers reveal how DNA unzipping machine MCM2-7 complex works, with implications for cancer therapy

A research team led by Dr. Yuanliang Zhai from the School of Biological Sciences, The University of Hong Kong (HKU), and his collaborators from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Institut Curie, France, has uncovered a new mechanism of the human MCM2-7 complex in regulating replication initiation, which can be used as a novel and effective anticancer strategy with the potential for the selective killing of cancer cells. The findings were recently published in Cell.
